The Samsung ML-1430 is a great inexpensive (I bought mine for around $100) laser printer for home use. I bought this printer when I started grad school knowing that I'd be printing a lot and that I didn't want to have to worry about the copy cards required to print at the UW. It's been 4 years now and this little printer has printed thousands and thousands of pages (seriously, I go through a ream of paper every 2-3 months or so) and it's still going strong. I've had to buy new toner only three times since owning it ($60 or so on Amazon). If you are going to be doing a lot of printing, get a laser. Inkjet won't cut it. The only downside to this printer is that for some reason it will not accept paper from the bypass tray (including envelopes).

We got this modem when we signed up for Qwest DSL and it's great. I've used dial-up forever but when we last moved we needed to be able to have multiple computers online at once and there were no phone jacks in the second bedroom that we turned into our office (how stupid). Anyway, Qwest gives you the option to buy the modem (around $65) or rent it for $3/month. Buy the stupid thing because you'll keep DSL forever and then feel dumb like I do. Anyway, this modem is EASY to set up with the installation CD from Qwest. Took about 30 minutes and we were up and running. It's awesome. Wifi in the home is a lifesaver when you have multiple people who want to be online at once and maybe spread out in different rooms.

My experience with Cafe Bengodi was hands-down the worst experience I've had with a restaurant in Seattle. Horrifying. I had wanted to try Cafe Bengodi for years and finally went for a celebratory lunch a few months ago. To make a long story short we ended up having to cancel our order and leave without any food because after 50 minutes of waiting and being lied to (our server kept insisting that our food was being plated and would be out any minute) my entire lunch break was over! When I went inside to cancel the order because I had to get back to work the server said that the cook was just about to start our food - this after 50 minutes of saying that it was being plated. We did have an order of very oily, very garlic-y garlic bread that was sub-par for any italian restaurant. STAY AWAY! To make matters worst, this is a TINY restaurant with only about 7 tables (approximately 15 total customers there!) during the summer when they put an extra 3 tables outside. This kind of service is INEXCUSABLE, particularly since we ordered pasta with *uncooked* sauce (caprese style).

When I first heard about Ohana I was pretty excited, being from Hawaii and all. My general dislike for Belltown aside, this is a decent place, if you go at the right time. At the wrong time this place is incredibly crowded (Belltown, what do you expect?) and service is S-L-O-W. The food includes Hawaiian favorites like Spam Musubi (don't knock it unless you've tried it) and fried rice, as well as more mainstream Asian food (including decent sushi).

Than Brothers is a local chain of Vietnamese noodle soup restaurants. The simple menu includes only Pho (veggie, chicken and different combinations of beef), cream puffs and beverages. If you've never had Pho before, you're really missing out on one of the tastiest inexpensive dishes out there. Order your favorite flavor, add the raw bean sprouts, basil, chilies, sauces and lemon juice and enjoy. Also, try the lemonade (my favorite!). Oh, and it's cash-only, but with a medium Pho (actually VERY large) priced around $4, it's not a big deal.

The Hi-Life is the newest restaurant from the same people behind the Jitterbug and Coastal Kitchen. They do a monthly regional menu but so far some of their regions of choice have been questionable. In all, I've been disappointed by their food several times and actually once left for another dinner spot when they were doing large 2-person meals for their Barcelona menu (very strange). However, they do have some great wood fired pizzas ($3 at happy hour!) and some decent drinks (but do NOT ever order sangria here - it's undrinkable). Their breakfasts are very tasty.

Cafe Allegro is my favorite coffee place in the Udistrict. It's right across the street from the new law school building and right next to the used bookstore. They now have free wifi although it can be a bit spotty at times. Their coffee is great. Limited pastry selection, but still pretty tasty. There's a separate smoking room upstairs with lots of tables and even a couple outside for when the weather isn't too bad.
