I've only eaten at Wild Ginger twice, and It's not likely that I'll go back willingly. The food was alright if not slow slow slow to come out of the kitchen.
The service, however, was pretty great. The waiter never batted an eyelash when we ordered "the cheapest Chardonnay on your wine list, please." In fact, we had a fabulous conversation with the wine steward about New Zealand wines and learned that they produce screw top wines because there are no cork trees in New Zealand. We also learned that corks are not necessarily the way to go. ten percent of all bottles of wine go bad because of cork issues. People do love the ceremony of uncorking a bottle, though.
My biggest complaint is that this place is an acoustic train wreck. Both times, the noise level was so loud I couldn't even carry on a conversation with the people I dined with.
There are enough great Thai restaurants in this city that no one needs to settle for Wild Ginger.

Chutney's in Bellevue has the best ambiance
Of the 3 Chutney's I've been to - this one has the nicest decor and the most professional service. I'm a sucker for anything with paneer. The nan is excellent, and the dal is pretty tasty too.

Every once in a while I treat myself to a nice lunch at Chaco Canyon Cafe. They're a little spendy, but I don't mind shelling out the extra ching for great organic food. I'm a total sucker for the pesto melt with a salad. It has yet to disappoint. The space is a bit small and cluttered, and the grilled sandwiches can take a while (they warn you). However, I do enjoy it more that some of the "nicer" vegan places in town (who shall remain nameless).

Once upon a time I lived within walking distance of Snappy Dragon. Oh, how I miss those days of homemade pan fried vegetaable dumplings! And when you eat there - you can see the dumplings and noodles being made.
The food is wonderful - never too greasy or salty.

I know - most people love 'em. I've never been impressed with the food. The service is mediocre at best, and they're stingy with the paneer. The last time I ate there - the server spilled vindaloo all over my wool coat - then denied it. Have you ever tried to get vindaloo out of fabric? Lost cause.

Bigger isn't necesarily better
Where is the ambiance? There's nothing pleasant about eating here. It's reminiscent of high school and hospital cafeterias. Who feels nostalgic about that? Both conjure up painful images.

So the food's alright. So what? This town is full of alright food.

I love that I can eat at a place that meets my vegetarian needs as well as the needs of my carnivorous friends. The food is exceptional and creative. You can do a lot of things with fake meats. The ginger fish - veggie style is delectible.
The Moonlight seems to draw a nice hipster crowd from the surrounding neighborhoods.
I have mixed reviews about the take out process, though. The last time we got take out - we called in our order and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We got there a little early and were greeted with a shouting "I told you it would take 20 minutes! It's only been 10!" Uh... OK.

After two trips to Thailand I can honestly say - this place is pretty authentic. (Well, as authentic as you can get without access to the incredible produce markets in that country.)
Here are the things that leave me with a pang of ache, missing Thailand:
1. The peanuts with scallions served to every table
2. The decor - it's pretty right-on
3. The red pumpkin curry
4. Anything with pickled lime leaves
It's a great date place, and a great family place.
