We met a friend of ours for dinner on March 6th, 2007 and had a nice experience with ordering dinner and drinks in the bar area of Matt's. The place was hopping when we were there around 730pm but our server was attentive and friendly the whole time even though she was clearly busy.
First we ordered a round of oysters to share. We're always big fans of these and that evening we chose the Snow Creek and Kumamoto types for our dozen and those were gone almost as soon as they hit the table. Rick was enjoying beer and we had martinis (gin) and then switched to wine with dinner.
Dinner consisted of the prime rib for me and Rick. I liked what was served with the prime rib but I have to say the cuts of meat we got were a little less than what we were expecting. Rick thought they tasted like ham initially and I think that came from the big slab of butter they put on both of our entrees.
I agree with him though. The cuts were okay, but not fabulous. I'm sorry to say I can't recall what Michael had that evening. I know we'll come back but I usually keep my hopes from getting too high even though I know Matt's is one of the places that is considered on the higher end in Redmond.

Okay, perhaps that's a tacky title line but we love shopping in the summertime for great French rose' wine deals at Ballard Market. Rose' is wonderful with BBQ and summertime is perfect for a wine like this that has some body but is chilled for warm days and nights.
The rest of the year you'll find other great wine deals here too and the produce section is generally good. For the Ballard area this is the place to go for cheese too. Hmmm... do you think that was intentional with the wine department?
The meat department here is small but good and when we aren't going for staple items (why we shop at Safeway) then we go for specialty items at Ballard Market. It's sister store up north, Central Market, is like this shop but on steroids and it gives Whole Foods a run for their money.

This cute little shop up on Phinney Ave and 65th has wonderful outfits that any girl (adult) should check out. Open only 4 months this shop carries new and vintage clothing that is fun and fancy without the huge price tags of other places. Granted, it's not cheap either but I'd say the values are good for what you get - clothes with character and not a "me too" mentality.
Suzy is the owner and she's onsite most of the time. Her tastes are eclectic but not far out so there's likely to be something for just about anyone that stops in. Accessories are also fun and interesting - check her shop out for Christmas and then come back all year round.

I have become quite addicted to using Pike Place Fish's website for ordering fresh salmon for my parents. Each Christmas time for the past several years I have ordered a whole fish to be flown out to them in Kansas. Considering fresh whole King Salmon is hard to come by in the middle of the USA it is seen as quite a treat for mom and dad. It's also nice when I send a big fish for them to occasionally share it with my brothers and their families too. Summertime is when I prefer to do one for the whole clan since grilling is a wonderful summer tradition with the family.
http://www.pikeplacefish.com/default.htm
When I have the time I'll head down to the Pike Place Market and usually I'll pick up fish for our house too, but when time is short and I need to do things quickly the website is easy to use. More than just salmon is on the site so it's worth checking out what's fresh and some of the other items to make a package out of it when you can. Sometimes I change up what I send just so they don't get tired of it.
The part my mom likes is that they get the fish in and then she'll split it up into individual portions for her and dad that they can keep in the freezer and then pull out as they need or want them. It's a wonderful way for them to enjoy the salmon for up to a month or more and it's a way for me to show them love and appreciation. I know they really like it so I enjoy sending it to them. Plus, it's a great seafood break between turkey, ham, and beef at Thanksgiving and Christmas time.

I have known Brock now for a few years and he not only has been a client but he's also been a trusted source for me to refer clients to for financial advisory services. While he is based in the Bellevue area he is able to meet with clients in a variety of settings so it's not always necessary to make a trip to his office.
Most people haven't heard much about AXA in the United States but they are actually one of the largest financial services companies in the entire world. One thing that I really like about the firm is that the agents have a lot of resources available to them internally - meaning that there are employees with all kinds of backgrounds to help with your needs such as legal, accounting, tax, financial, and more.
Another cool thing is that they aren't limited to only products that their company produces. I've had accounts with Prudential and Wachovia and I can only buy products that they offer. So, I pretty much keep my accounts there to a limit of stocks.
Brock also is a really great guy. I like his no nonsense approach but softened with a wonderful sense of humor. You can't help but like the guy!

I was the unfortunate recipient of bad news when my neighbors sold their place a couple of years ago. After having spent a large sum of money on landscaping my backyard and adding a deck and patio area, I was told that they'd need to dig a 9 foot long by 6 foot wide by 13 foot deep hole in my yard. Obviously, this was to my dismay and hit my pocket book since my former neighbors left the state without repaying me the cost to put my yard back into place.
However, the good news was that the folks at Raymark that had been hired to do the dirty sewer fix/replacement job were able to work around some pretty tight and restrictive conditions. They were professional and respectful of my property throughout the weeklong job. After watching how well they worked around the issues and made my yard as right as they could after their portion of the work was done I have now started recommending them to my real estate clients. A hearty "well done!" to these folks and their crew!

http://shoefly.com/ For months I've been longing to get inside this store. No, it's not that there is some bizarre exclusivity to it but rather that it sits next to where I get my hair cut by Katie Buter of Illustrated Hair in the Greenlake area. Usually I get my hair cut in the morning so I can have the benefit of gorgeous hair all day but Katie couldn't get me in till an afternoon appointment this week and OH am I happy!
Usually Shoefly is closed in the earlier morning hours so I just drool over what I see in the window. Last night I went in and spent 40 minutes perusing the lovely shoes on display. A nice assortment of interesting and funky shoes of all types: flats, casual, sporty, boots, dressy, dressy-casual, you name it!
What I loved the most is that they have styles that are much like the ones I see in Europe. Hip and edgy could be used to describe the majority of styles but there are some more conservative choices there as well. I was able to pick up a gorgeous pair of open toed red heels that were perfect to wear with my "Marilyn" dress and I also picked up a pair of wedges that are perfect for both work and casual wear.
Locations are in Seattle, Bellevue, and now Portland too. There is also a website and I've put the link in above.
Right now there is a sale going on where you get 1 pair at regular price and the second pair is HALF OFF! Go - Now - Shoefly!

I have just returned from a little over a week in Paris and I was lucky enough to be turned on to a shoe company called Heyraud. http://www.heyraud.fr/collection-femme.php I bought three pair of flats here and I love them all equally although they are all very different in style. What caused the reason to buy? Not just because I was on vacation. Actually, I came to the trip with a pair of walking shoes on that I'd used in a previous trip several years ago but as I crested the top of the subway staircase the sole of my shoe fell off! AUGH! The only other shoes I'd brought with me were more for going out to dinner type shoes so they weren't going to be able to handle the multiple miles of walking that this trip would generate.
So... off we went to check out the stores on the Champs Elysees. Heyraud is on the north side of the roadway near a movie theater and the restaurant called George. I bought a cute little snub nosed Mary Jane style shoe in black, another flat but stylish shoe in a dark red/burgundy color with a slanted strap and a cute gathering of leather at the toe section, and a more sporty black pair that remind me of cycling shoes but they're dressed up with gold trim. The website is in French but the shoes are multi-cultural/multi-lingual - they say "these are some nice shoes!"
