Ace Hardware usually has nice places. Stephenson seems like the biggest of the Ace Family and the cleanest. The employees are so friendly, I'd hang out there for fun. While they don't have a ton of lumber, you can get that at other mom and pop places...I love the neighborhood feel to this place. Everyone seems happy and productive and it's a pleasure to shop here, especially as a woman. I've always hated Home Depot for it's mega-tude and I'm thankful there are alternatives.

If my dad were alive today, he'd take me to Tweedy and Popp. Not because it's big or has every item, but because he'd know the people who worked there and would visit them so often, people would mistake him for an employee. So in honor of the days when I went to hardware stores with my dad, I go to Tweedy and Popp. They have paint, garden stuff, plumbing stuff, they make keys, and they have Dremel bits. Plus the people are SO NICE it's ridiculous.

They have a catalog (and I think you can order online?) and the products are greatly discounted. You can get more than vitamins and supplements too. Health care items, some energy bars, or just strange things that regular drugstores or health food stores don't carry.

I leave the cooking to the man of the house but I shop here if I want to get him something special.

I like to take vacations in town (Seattle being my favorite city and all) and the fiance and I stayed at the Vance (pre-Max) Hotel. Then when we saw the new digs, we agreed to fork over the cash to stay over one night. It was fabulous. While the rooms obviously didn't change size that much, it was so hip! Nice beds, down comforters, pillow bar, and yummy restaurant below. The folks were still great, of course.
It's more expensive of course, but I have to say that it has style and that beats a joe shmoe hotel anyway.

The downtown Bellevue Silver Cloud has an outdoor pool and indoor spa (Redmond has an indoor pool). There's free wi-fi in the lobby, and internet service in the room, hair dryers, irons, refrigerators, and more...really, it's a great place.
Some of the inns have courtesy vans as well. They're also locally owned.

I know one of the owners and it makes it even more enjoyable to go to Postmark Gelato. White chocolate basil flavor is my fav. but I try to keep the dairy levels down (they have a few sorbets, which are non-dairy). It's just a cute place! Go there!

They have cute little gift things and trendy Ballard sweatshirts and the folks are super nice as well. They offer USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL, plus Seko Worldwide Freight services. They have wi-fi. Their coffee is fair trade. Do you need any more reasons?

Although I don't shop here a lot, my fiance does almost all his shopping here. They have great deals on designer clothes and we can still afford rent after shopping here. They have very stylish stuff...
