Hearst Castle is so beautiful and tourists come from far away to see it, which is really neat since we live so close to it. This "castle" was built by William Randolph Hearst and everything about it is extravagant. There are tons of things that are gold-plated, beautiful swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and the grounds and gardens are amazing. They offer several different tours because it is much too large to tour the whole thing at once. So, you have to choose which part of the castle you want to see the most. During the summer, they have nighttime tours and it is really pretty and romantic with the soft lighting. If you haven't been, I recommend checking it out. You can buy presale tickets on their website.

This is a cute little shop with a lot of vintage items. It is out in the country between Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo. They have a little deli and it is just a quaint place to visit. The thing that I love is that part of it is called Suite Edna and that is where you rent the cute little farm house for the night. It is a bed and breakfast and you can either rent one of the rooms or the whole house. It is decorated really cute and they have a full kitchen and bathroom. It is very homey and you can't help but feel like it is yours when you stay. The cool thing is that they will let you have parties (like birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, etc - not wild parties) there and you can use the whole grounds and gazebo for the price that you would pay for just staying in the house.

In my opinion, Napa Auto Parts is the best auto parts store in the area. The guy behind the counter is always friendly instead of being rude and abrupt like some of the other places. The prices are just as good if not better than most of the other retailers, but you get better service. Instead of just handing you the part and showing you to the door, they are happy to give you some advice or suggestions with whatever project you are going to be working on.

I have taken my car to Rizzoli's for a long time whenever it needed repair. I like it because I am usually the one that has to take the car in and I feel that they are being honest with me and not trying to rip me off just because I am a woman (which I have seen other automotive repair shops do). I don't ever feel like they try to sell me extra parts or get me to have extra things done to my car. They are also pretty much always right on the money when it comes to their estimates.I have never had them give me an estimate and then charge me way over what the estimate was.

Iversen Motors has been around for a long time. I can remember going there with my parents when I was a kid and they were looking to buy a car. They have a really big selection of used and new cars. They have a nice showroom and lot. The thing that I like the most is that they don't have a lot of high-pressure sales. I am a person who would much rather browse by myself and seek a salesperson's help when I am ready. They allowed me to do that without having a salesman looking over my shoulder. I have bought two used cars from Iversen's and always felt like I got a fair deal.

Cowboy Cookie has some good cookies and good flavor selections. It has a reputation for being the best around. Personally, I think that the cookies are a little bit dry and would prefer to go around the corner to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I guess it just depends on if you like a moist or a dry cookie. It's a matter of personal preference. I obviously would like to support a local business person and buy the Cowboy Cookie, which I do sometimes, but it's just not the best around. It's still good, it's just not the best.

Gina's is such a wonderful bakery. They have so many really good items to choose from, including homemade breads, pastries, brownies and cookies. However, the best thing is their cakes. These are not like ordinary bakery cakes, there is something about them that makes them taste just so much better. They are also very pretty to look at. One of the cool things that they do is that they will make what looks like one large cake out of a bunch of cupcakes. We did this for my daughter's birthday party and it was a big hit. I also like the fact that they sell single serving cakes or cakes that serve two people if you want a special dessert for you and someone special. The ladies that work there are also very, very nice.

Black Forest Bakery has some really yummy goodies. What I like about this bakery is that they sell some items that the other bakeries around here do not sell - such as a couple of different types of baklava. I haven't seen any other bakeries sell it and my husband loves it. Their brownies and cookies are pretty good, although there are other places around that are better. They make an excellent chocolate cake. I did buy a birthday cake from them once and while it was okay, it was nothing great and it cost a lot of money. They charged me extra for placing decorations that I had purchased onto the cake. They didn't arrange them well at all - I could have done a better job myself. However, that won't stop me from going there for their other stuff.

This place has the most amazing bread that I have ever tasted. A lot of stores sell their bread and it is really good, but you haven't really enjoyed it unless you have bought it fresh from San Luis Sourdough. They sell loaves, rolls and all kinds of other sourdough bread products (breadsticks, etc.). It is a real treat to get freshly made bread like this. I like it that I can just swing by on my way home and pick up fresh bread for dinner that tastes like I slaved over the oven all day making it myself. It doesn't have a processed taste at all - it really tastes homemade.
