This is a really neat store and it is the only store of its kind in downtown San Luis. There are a lot of other stores that sell home decor, but this is the only one that sells stuff to decorate your home both inside and out. They have really cute decorative items for your garden and things just to dress up the outside of your house. The salespeople are really nice and are a good source to go to for information and opinions on what might look nice for your house. The prices are a little bit high, but that is consistent with downtown SLO. They definitely aren't outrageous on their prices though.

Grocery Outlet is pretty good for some items. You can get some stuff for really cheap due to packaging defects or things on that order. However, I would recommend being really careful. They do guarantee that everything is fresh and prior to the "sell by" or expiration date. I would just make really sure that you buy relatively "safe" items. If you are careful about what you buy, you can save a lot of money and not sacrifice quality.

FoodMaxx is where I do the majority of my grocery shopping because their prices are so good. They have the best prices for groceries around, hands down. You do sacrifice a little bit for the prices though. The regular grocery goods are okay, but the produce is not very good. Usually, it is pretty hard to find some decent produce - you have to sort through the whole bin to find something acceptable. If you go on a Monday, you are going to have a little more luck with the produce. Any other day, and you can pretty much forget it. The other thing is that they don't bag your groceries - you have to bag your own. That is part of their thing, they say by the fact that you bag your own groceries that they save money and pass the savings on to you. In short, I would recommend going here for most groceries to save money, but get your produce elsewhere.

Web MD is a wonderful resource for pretty much any medical issue that you want more information on. The thing that I like the most is the message boards. The two that I have used most frequently are the pregnancy board and the pediatrics board. I loved that when I was pregnant, I could post a question to the OB and also get helpful input from other pregnant members. It was also fun to be able to have "conversations" with other pregnant women about what we were going through. I have also used the Pediatrics board and it has been very informative for getting information about my infant. It is a really friendly site with a lot of information. They also have info on a lot of other medical issues besides pregnancy and pediatrics, but those are the ones that I have used the most.

I love Country Hearth. It is a really cute little shop with lots of decor and knick-knack kind of stuff for your home. Although the name says "country" they also have a lot of cute shabby chic items as well. Obviously this is not a store that sells necessities for the home, but I find it nearly impossible to leave this store without finding something that I HAVE to have for my home. It is just a really inviting store with some cute stuff and good prices. Also, the ladies working there are really nice and friendly. They make the environment so nice that it is enjoyable to go in all the time just to see if they have anything new.

This is the perfect place to go if you have a special photo and want just the right frame for it. Their selection is unbelievable. For one thing, they have a ton of styles and colors - from ultra-modern to classic to old-fashioned Victorian. They also have a ton of different sizes that are difficult to find at other shops. If you can't find exactly what you want, they will custom make it for you so that you have just exactly the size and style that you want. They also have a variety of mats for matting the picture into the frame. They really have an eye for what looks good and have good recommendations for getting just the look you want.

This is a pretty good no-frills hotel for people that want to stay close to Disneyland. The prices are a lot cheaper than most hotels close to Disneyland (about $50 or so). The staff was friendly and they were really geared toward tourists coming to Disneyland. We saw a couple of seedy goings-on in the parking lot, but it wasn't terrible. It was fine just for a place to crash while you go to Disneyland. If you are looking for something fancy or if you are going to spend a lot of time in your room, I would spring for a nicer hotel. However, if you're just going to sleep for a few hours, save some money and stay at the Red Roof.

I have never stayed in the hotel, but this place has a great restaurant. It is right on the way to Solvang, so it is a nice place to hit up for lunch on your way to shopping in Solvang. They have a large variety of foods on the menu - anything from burgers to pasta. The wait staff is very friendly as well. The prices are pretty decent for being in the middle of a really touristy area. The best part is that they have a really good bakery with authentic Danish pastries as well as brownies and cookies. They not so subtly made it so that you have to walk through the bakery to get out of the restaurant - so you can't help but pick up something sweet.

The Madonna Inn is such a neat hotel. They offer so much. First off, the hotel is really unique. Each room has a different theme. For example, one is like a cave with a waterfall and rock theme and one is a Victorian theme. There are several other themes in between. You can check out the website and see pictures of each of the rooms. They also have a bakery and coffee shop with the most amazing cakes you have ever tasted. They are huge and the slices that they give you are huge. The pink champagne cake is the best. They also have a steakhouse called the Gold Rush and it is pretty good too. It is a lot of fun to come and check out the Madonna Inn lobby during Christmas time. They are famous for their beautiful Christmas decorations.

This place is okay for frozen yogurt if you are in Santa Maria and want frozen yogurt. It is really strange, but there are not many frozen yogurt places in Santa Maria. There is only TnT's and Euro Yogurt. In my opinion, Euro Yogurt is better. The yogurt tastes better and has a better consistency. Also, the prices and portions are better. It is by far not the best frozen yogurt that I have had, but it will do if I am really craving a frozen yogurt and I am in Santa Maria.
