The best donuts
These are the best. I get the cinnamon and usually pick up an extra dozen or two for friends.

The Motorola Q phone has arrived and for me its a great combination of high functionality and low price without feeling like you are holding a brick to your ear. With the fast-EVDO networking, great media support in the latest Windows CE, and the coolest power connector (it just uses a mini-USB connector) this phone is going to be perfect for many people.
Having said that it isn't for everyone- its got one of those mini-QWERTY keyboards and if you don't feel you are going to write any emails or messages or type in website addresses on your phone you are probably better off with something thinner.

While I wouldn't call it a destination place, St. Clouds is just a few blocks from my house and for the Madrona neighborhood place provides a great place to have everyday meals without cooking yourself. They have two sides of the menu "at home" and "out to dinner" that provide different styles of experience and enough variety for regular visits.

I've used all the various expensive German knives for years but switched pretty quickly to the Mac style once I tried one. The Santoku is the best of the lot and is the first that I always reach for in the kitchen. It is super-easy to keep sharp and the most flexible whether for chopping vegis, working on meat or whatever.

We especially enjoyed the Habanero Black Tiger Shrimp, Queso Fundito, Pork Enchiladas. The Flautas and corn were both good but nothing special.

Lampreia is solidly the best high-end restaurant in Seattle. Chef Scott Carsberg is a creative genius and his focus on fresh, pure flavors and on really tasting the food makes this place my consistent favorite. The truffle pasta over foie gras he made a couple years ago is still one of the most distinct food memories I've ever had.
As a place run by a creative genius, it has some quirks and the focus is solidly on the great food. Usually I'd recommend skipping the printed menu and just putting yourself in Scott's hands with whatever dishes he thinks are best on the given day.

Nishino is my favorite spot for great Japanese food. It's not an inexpensive bite but they always have the freshest ingredients and they make some of the most creative stuff. I'd highly recommend asking for a few "chefs choice" items when you go there- when they invent something on the spot its often magical.

One key suggestion- I just discovered the fried onions on their burger- these are great. Super caramalized and crispy.

We were pleasently suprised by how great this was. We arrived about an hour late but the service was great. The decor feels pretty LA, and the wine list is a bit weak. Their cocktails were great and interesting. When the waiter saw us order 4 appetisers and 1 entre for two people he mentioned they normaly have a tasting menu available but were low on a few things at the moment but would do our selections tasting-menu style. Everything was very good, the aspagus soup had just great flashes of flavor from perfectly cooked crunchy fresh little aspagus chunks and lox bits. They brought out an extra dish of shrimp cheviche that was amazing. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the real tasting menu experience there sometime soon.
