Considering the size of UW, I was surprised about how accessible the staff was and how easy it was to sign-up as a non-matriculating student. The people in financial services are friendly and extremely helpful. I took a summer class for credit, but I didn't definitively know from my school whether I would receive credit until after the add/drop date had ended. It took a little work to find the right person, but they told me they would make an exception, and give me a full refund if I needed to drop the class late. It's a well-managed school.

I've been going to Greg Mortenson for years, and I think that he's a great dentist. He's friendly, extremely conscientious, and sensible. He's also knowledgable and willing to answer questions about teeth and gums, a rather sore subject for many of my friends. Call way in advance for an appointment, though -- especially during those summer months.

If you are just starting chiropractic treatment like myself and are afraid of those dreaded neck adjustments, Michael Chan is the doctor to see. He an extremely capable chiropractor, an excellent diagnoser and a gentle adjuster. I always feel much better than I leave than when I arrive. The wait is never too long, and he has a capable staff. I can usually get an appointment when I want, though he's only in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If you had a $30 budget for your entire life's supply of Simpsons DVDs, this would be the season to spend it on. Almost every episode is a classic; Sideshow Bob stepping on millions of rakes, a greased-up Groundskeeper Willie falling 30 feet into Skinner's lap, and, of course, a special guest appearance by former writer Conan O'Brien. I could go on and on. No episode is a disappointment.
I like the earlier DVDs for commentary because by the time this one roles around the REALLY funny commentators such as Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson's voice) have largely stopped contributing. Still, the quality of the episodes makes this DVD a must-have for any collection.

Cherry Crest is one of the best public elementary schools on the Eastside. The class sizes are relatively small and they make an effort to place you in whatever program suits your learning needs, whether it is afternoon ESL or accelerated math and reading. I have always loved the grounds there, surrounding by a positive moat of playthings and sawdust.
Ah, memories of afternoon trips to skate king, of bi-weekly math quizzes, of panning for gold!
Also, that annual walk-a-thon can really boost a child's self-esteem, if they do well.

You'll need a good, long day at this place to get any fun in at all, unless you enjoy waiting in long lines and losing all the people you came with. But the rides, for many, are completely worth it. There are plenty of awesome water slides and even a wave-pool. It's a long wait, but a fun time.,

One thing about this club: If you like ellipticals, there is always a machine available. They also have tvs for one to look at when they work out. Some problems with this place include the enormously impossible parking, which is unbearable between 5-8 pm. I'm not sure what it's like in the morning. Also, they are stingy with the air conditioner.

The Pro Club is an excellent facility. Their trainers are incredible and everything is air-conditioned to just the right level. It's incredibly expensive (if you have to pay full price), but you really get a lot of bang for your buck. You should not visit there unless you are prepared to REALLY want to join, even if it means giving up everything you love.

This is, hands down, the most amazing club in the eastside. I just read that it is the largest health club in the pacific northwest, and I'd be hard-pressed to find one that fits one's needs so very well. The locker rooms are nicer than my family's living room, the restaurant has three tiers of quality (on the go, regular, and a swanky diningroom I've never had the guts to venture into), and the pools? Well, there are two of them, and they're big. The only con is that they close at eleven, which is pretty early. Skip the valet. Though I suppose you can do it if you have the money left over.
