This place is nice to go too- understated decor in warm wood tones provide a sense of relaxation. A fabulous team of waiters make sure every and anything you want is given. And the food is done to perfection and served in generous sizes.

Charlie Hong Kong's is a tiny place with food that packs a punch. Big earthenware bowls full of noodles, rice, fresh vegetables and sauted fish and meat. Vegan and vegetarian options abound from a menu that is concise, to the point, but offers a lot. It's fast-healthy-food with a twist. Try their teriyaki salmon bowl, two large chunks of sauted teriyaki salmon with grated carrots and snap peas over a bowl of fluffy rice... to die for!

This place is a favorite with me, just because it has so many good memories. Very much a part of Santa Cruz, this place is almost directly on the beach. Downstairs it is a quieter dining experience with table linens, attentive waiters and quiet music. Upstairs it gets a bit more rowdy. :) But in a good way. One of my favorite things to do is gather a group of girlfriends and go there for drinks and appetizers- their nachos are wonderful though, if you like nachos be sure to order your OWN plate. :) Fun place to go.

Set on the beautiful Aptos Beach near the Cement Ship, this is a place to stun a date with. The atmosphere is dressy casual with a wide variety of clientele wandering in; from those just out from on the beach to those who dress up for a special date. The smoked salmon appetizer is wonderful, served with caper spread and lemon it's a piquiant way to start the meal. Order seafood when you go here- it's so fresh that it melts in your mouth. For dessert, try their chocolate mousse- absolute heaven. This is a fun place to go with a date- the sun setting on the water, the wonderful food, and to wrap it up a walk on the beach...

Always packed on the weekends, this is a good place to slip away too some cold, weekday morning when the stale bagel and cup of luke-warm coffee just aren't going to cut it. With breakfast favorites served all day, you can't go wrong. Eggs Benedict, Bacon and Eggs, Huevos Rancheros, Omlettes... this is the place to go for a carb overload of a breakfast. The wait staff is friendly, but food can be a while in coming during the weekends due to the volume of customers. Try their lattes or mochas, each arrived perfectly made. In the lattes, rings of espresso, milk and foam are done exquisitely, crowned with a dusting of chocolate. After you leave you'll feel warm, satisfied and ready to face your day head on.

It's easy to unwind here... with the muted lighting, attentive wait staff and a martini list to make you drool. Especially good is the apple martini... the edge is dredged in warm carmel which melts into the martini as you drink it, giving you a double treat. Also good is the lemon drop, an invigorating kick with a sugared rim. Or try the mint chocolate martini whose rim is dipped in warm chocolate. This is a good place to meet your friends... a top notch drink in a top notch bar.

I've gone here a couple times within the last couple months and have never failed to be impressed by the impeccable service. Their staff is fully knowledgable and able to handle any question you throw at them; from where does this wine come from to what exactly is a cherry jubilee? The food itself is okay, nothing stunning or fantastic, just a higher level of sophistication than most of the restaurant offerings in Scotts Valley. Their three cheese ravioli in garlic wine sauce is a standout however, try it with a dinner salad on the side. Overall a good experience, if nothing else for the staff.

Small and local, they were a place that had a small town feel. :) They have a nice selection of soft shoe and pointe shoes and the staff is very knowledable in how everything should fit and what is the newest and latest in the dancing world. Very nice place.

A true steakhouse, Bruno's features ribs, steaks and meat sandwiches. Their ribs though, are, really really good. As are their garlic fries; not for the wimpy these fries have large chunks of fresh garlic clinging to chunky cut potatoe. A very down to earth staff makes this place more of a favorite aunt's kitchen, then a restaurant. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good, hearty, wholesome red meat when you're in the mood for it.
