If you're tired of the little go karts at Scandia, this is the next step up. Think of it as the difference between lasertag and paintball. These cars (not really karts) top out at around 40 mph, and trust me, you don't want them to go any faster. There are two courses most days, and on one day of the week the courses are combined into one monster track. The cars are easy to drive, hard to master. You can easily spin them out by going too fast. The price of admission includes a head sock, equipment rental and a race. It is an expensive sport to get into, but it's well worth trying. Staff are professional and try to keep as much rule-breaking to a minimum as possible.

I own a Subaru and a Saturn. Now, conventional wisdom states that a domestic car will have more repairs, but be cheaper to repair, while a foreign car will need fewer repairs, and be more expensive. Well, somehow Maita Subaru go against the grain. The repairs for similar work (distributor replacement for example) have been cheaper here than at the Saturn dealership. Every time the Subaru needs work, it ends up costing about 75% of what I would have expected to pay for the same repair on my Saturn. The staff are friendly, and take the time to explain things in plain English, without sounding condescending. They are flexible, have good shuttle service, and are all-around a great find! It is always a hard thing to find good car service and repair, and I feel lucky to recommend this dealership. There have been two instances where the staff have made a mistake. Once when they couldn't locat ethe shift-lock release, and once when they didn't correctly diagnose a problem. When they didn't diagnose correctly, they knocked the previous labor off the current repair. Just what I would expect to maintain a good customer relationship!

There are two reasons to go to Ettore's. The food and the desserts. They serve a modest lunch and dinner menu, with soups, sandwiches and salads being the predominant fare. They also have a large dessert and pastry display, and you will want to make sure you save room, because the desserts are amazing! They have things I never even thought about making, like a white chocolate strawberry cake. They have fruit tarts, pies, bagels, breads, etc. The lunch menu is always very tasty, and the breads are usually an italian or other European type, which are seasoned, and delicious.

Goodie Tuchews does one thing, and does it well: they bake cookies. You can get them in a whole variety of different ways, and it is the only place I know of where you can get white chocolate chip cookies without macadamia nuts. There are two sizes of cookie, small and large. Large is around three to four inches in diameter, and small is more like two to three. You can also get leftovers (while they last) in bargain bags that are an assortment of different flavors of small cookies. Now the most important part: The cookies are delicious!

Moving is always a hard thing for me. Lots of change, and then I have to find another barber! Well, I was lucky this time around. The closest barber to me happened to be an excellent place, one that I go to again and again. This reminds me of the barber shop I used to go to when I was in grade school, with the two rows of mirrors on each wall, and sports memorabilia on display. The line can get a bit long here, but there are plenty of times when there has been no waiting. Staff are friendly, a bit crusty, and give fantastic hair cuts! Just bring cash, because they don't accept cards.

I only visited this establishment once, because I needed a new barber, and it was close to where I lived. The price was right. But that's about all I can say for this establishment. I thought the barber was creepy, kind of like the one Bart works for in The Simpsons. I don't know whwy he struck me that way, but he did. The hair cut was marginal, but I didn't really like it. By the time he was asking how the cut looked, it was too late to change things, you can't put the hair back!

I tend to try a few places to get my hair cut, and then stick with that place. Hair Forte has been my barber for many years. Their prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and the staff is friendly. They will cut men's and women's hair, and are good at remembering customers, even ones like me who get their hair cut every season! They have at most 2 staff working at a time, but the line is usually not long.

The newly remodelled Sara's is unfortunately right next to a Supercuts. I can't imagine it's easy to make ends meet with that kind of competition, but Sara's is worth passing up the major chain. The staff are friendly, and remember the customers. The prices are great, and there is rarely a line. They sell a few lines of hair supplies, and are unisex. The haircuts I get there are always good, and it's nice to not have to tell someone each time how you want your hair done. Once they remember you, then it's "the usual." I would recommend this place over any other in Sacramento.

With Comics Etc. folding up and closing all their Sacramento locations, it's nice to know that there are still places to find comic books. This small store has an excellent selection of all the current comics, and a decent assortment of back issues. They also carry some videos, and anime toys and nick-nacks. The staff are friendly enough, and the prices are what you'd expect. I don't know if they offer a subscription service like Comics Etc, so it might be worth a call first. Conveniently located near the Arden Fair mall.
