The USS Turner Joy was involved in the now infamous Tonkin Gulf Incident during the Vietnam War. Now, you can board the ship and explore it from deck to engine room. Your visit is guided by onboard volunteers that are involved in the ongoing effort to restore the ship, and they are great storytellers willing to tell you all they know. Visiting the USS Turner Joy as part of the other highlights of Bremerton makes a great day trip from Seattle!

Easy Street is a great place to spend some time (and money) discovering new music. The store is nicely organized, and listening stations throughout the store spotlight new artists. You can pick up the latest mainstream CD here, but the catalog runs a lot deeper, and I really like that they merchandise indie artists with the same prominence as the mainstream pap. They have a smaller selection of used CDs too, and if you are willing to hunt, you can often pick up a real bargain.

Enchanted Village has been given a jolt by the addition in the last few years of some badly needed new rides. The star attraction among these is the Timberhawk, a fantastic wooden coaster that opened in 2003. In my opinion, nothing beats the ride on a good, fast wooden coaster, and the Timberhawk doesn't disappoint.
Although Enchanted Village now carries the "Six Flags" brand, don't get too excited—this is no Six Flags. All the usual amusement park rides are represented here, and kids will have no trouble making a full day out of a visit. If you are a coaster enthusiast, then don't miss the Timberhawk. Otherwise, there are other Seattle area attractions that are more deserving of your time.

The new Uwajimaya is a great place to spend a few hours. The aisles of the grocery store contain interesting tasty treats from around the Pacific Rim, but the highlight for me is the food court. This is probably some of the best and cheapest Asian food in the city. The Chinese items are outstanding, and portions are extremely generous. You can't go wrong with anything on offer. The other outlets offer a range of choices so that everyone will find something that appeals to them. This is a great place to grab a quick and satisfying meal.

Every time I'm near Pike Place Market with my mother she seems to be caught up in some invisible magnetic pull that sucks her into Sur La Table. This place is like cat nip for kitchen freaks. The store stocks every imaginable kitchen basic and accessory. I have bought many a Christmas present here, and the helpful staff have guided me towards the right purchase every time.

I needed an accessory for my Mac, and dropped into The Mac Store to see if I could find it. I was impressed with the wide selection of products they stocked, and although the store is not nearly as cool and slick as the "official" Apple Store, it was a nice shopping environment. I was a let down a little bit by the service. The guy who helped me resorted to reading off the packaging to answer my questions. But, that said, the prices were fair, and they most likely will have what you are looking for.

If you are an experienced picker, or just someone interested in acoustic music, check out Dusty Springs. The staff in this shop are not only incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, but also super friendly. I was a little hesitant the first time I was in the store, so conditioned by the "don't touch" policies at other places. Dusty Springs encourages you to play the instruments, and really works to make sure you are comfortable. They also offer fantastic workshops.

I was a satisfied regular at Kiku until new owners decided to redecorate and shake-up the menu. The old Kiku used to offer above average food in very generous portions at a great price.
Sadly, the new Kiku seems to serve up average food that does not distinguish itself in any way from from the myriad of other options in the U district.
Considering how many fantastic places there are to eat in Seattle, I would not go out of my way to visit Kiku.

Movie nirvana at the Cinerama

Call me crazy, but I consider theatre atmosphere to be a crucial factor that can affect the movie going experience—a crummy theatre with small screen and bad sound can ruin an otherwise great movie.
Well you don't have to worry about that happening at the Cinerama. Instead it is quite possible that you will leave the theatre thinking a bad movie was great just because of how amazing it looked on the screen.
I was a huge fan before the big restoration, but now it is even better. Everything is state-of-the-art, and the seats are super comfortable. This is THE place in Seattle to see a movie. You won't be disappointed!
