It’s hard not to feel slightly shabby walking into Aria. All of the hair stylists are young and hip and the salon is in a huge, airy loft that doubles as an art gallery. Everyone is perfectly sweet though, even if you just want a simple do. The pricier stylists are worth it if you really need a perfect cut - one even cuts your hair dry. However, beware of the cheaper stylists (“cheaper” comparatively - they are all expensive). Be very clear about what you want or you may get a haircut that matches their 20-something lifestyle rather than yours.

The sales staff is very knowledgeable and will help you find the right back for your size and biking style. They will also share great places to ride. It’s a great place to shop because everyone there is so committed to biking and wants everyone to enjoy it as much as they do.

At Elliott Bay you'll find great selection and knowledgeable sales people who area eager to help. I've gone in there searching for a book with the wrong title and only the author's first name and they have managed to find it for me. Plus, free gift wrapping and a generous free rewards program. Great magazine selection as well and there is a yummy cafe downstairs. Street parking is usually easy to find.

This bookstore has a huge selection like the big box stores, but profits stay in the community. Students and staff get 10 percent back at the end of the academic year, so it’s a great deal for people associated with the UW (or know someone who is). They have an annual children’s book sale in the Spring with great finds. The clearance tables almost always yield something interesting – not the usual boring coffee table books. They have generous parking validation, so park in the lot. If you don’t buy anything you still get your first half hour free.

Near Pike Place Market, so makes a great place to stop in before picking up your groceries. They could have more places to sit.
