I took my car here to get serviced a few months ago, and I was disappointed to find that the price of service was higher than what other area Honda dealers had offered. Also, while the service was performed quickly, they neglected to take care of the one issue that I had specifically requested they look at and I later realized they had dropped the ball on washing my car, which was advertised as an included service. I was disappointed and don't plan on returning.

I get one of my cars serviced here. The prices for service are pretty good - especially if you bought from them. The hours aren't as great as say, my Honda dealer, but I haven't had any problems getting repairs or regular maintenance done here. The people are friendly and always helpful when I have problems or questions. If you need a local toyota dealer, this is a good place to go.

For some of Seattle's greatest coffee, this is a great place to go. It's a large, uncrowded cafe, with free wifi. The drinks are of the highest quality. The prices are excellent, and the baristas are pretty low on the "barista attitude scale" - they're friendly and will remake any problem drinks in the rare event something doesn't work out (note to self: don't get apple syrup in coffee ever again). Open late, until 11.

Don't Ever Talk on Your Cellphone Here!
This place has great coffee. Possibly the best in the city. It also has some of the most attitude in the city. These people take their coffee very seriously. The pastries are good, the wifi is free....
This place has great coffee. Possibly the best in the city. It also has some of the most attitude in the city. These people take their coffee very seriously. The pastries are good, the wifi is free. Just don't *ever* talk on your cellphone in line. They get really annoyed at you when you do it - short calls when not in line are ok, and longer calls never are. It's kind of a weird attitude to have, but the coffee makes up for it.

Located in the new Pacific Rim Center on South Jackson Street near Chinatown, La Nouvelle is a vietnamese beauty school offering very inexpensive haircuts (starting at $5.00). The stylists are students and are quite competent in what they do. As a lot of the students are immigrants, so there are occasional language barriers, but if you want a simple hair cut and can explain yourself well, you should not have any serious difficulties. A great bargain and worth the effort. Free parking in the garage.

The stylists at this upscale Belltown-neighborhood salon do great work. It's easy for me to get an appointment, but if you are late, you may have to reschedule. You can come back two weeks after your initial cut to get a trim for free. The stylists really care about their work and try hard to keep me happy. Expensive, but worth it.

If you need a decent haircut while you're in the Little Saigon area, Lyn Hair salon is a good place to go. Haircuts start at about $10 and mine looked good. The area caters to Vietnamese immigrants, so there are occasional language barriers, but if you're clear about what you want, and patient, you should be fine. The salon is especially busy on weekends, and parking in the lot outside (the Asian Plaza parking lot) can be kind of dicey. Weekdays are slower and parking is a-ok.

An enjoyable shopping experience, for the most part, but occasionally the store's various cats stink up the joint. This used to be a big problem in the past, but seems to have been less of an issue later. The staff can be sassy, but are generally well-informed on the various books they have in stock. You do have to check all of the bags that are big enough to steal a cat in - apparently this does happen. Those who are allergic, be wary.

Lonely Planet PNW is a great guidebook that is split up into many sections covering the entire BC/Washington/Oregon areas, with large sections on Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland, with smaller sections on the other cities and large natural areas. As a Seattle native, I've found that it's really useful in finding those things that are here that you never really end up going to, like the Soundgarden sculpture (the inspiration for the band's name), and the various local festivals. Whenever you want to find stuff in other cities nearby, it's handy (like when you get those urges to go furniture shopping in Portland). It's well organized, and very sueful. Highly recommended.
