You haven't been there yet? It's the most exciting building in Seattle. Really. I'm not kidding. You have to go! After all the frustration I've had at all the taxes going to build sports stadiums, I'm finally impressed.
On my first trip to the library, I experienced the same kind of excitement I get from seeing very cool, inspiring art. Vastly different moods are created by different areas: from the excitement and fantasy of the children's area to the womb-like qualities of the red, rounded walled 5th? floor, I love it all.
I just found out that a local artist I'm very fond of has been commissioned to add some pieces to the children's area and I can't wait to see them. Not only is she local, but not yet that well known, so impressed by the curating.
It's my favorite place to go when I really need to concentrate on something and I'm too interrupted at the office. I'll spend the afternoon on the top floor on a squish purple chair with great views. I'm still connected to the office via the free wi-fi, but I feel like I'm having an experience.
The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that I can't seem to find all the books I'm looking for - either the library doesn't have them or they're checked out or they're missing. Hmm.

I always love the window displays here, the owner really has a sense for over-the-top girlyness and the windows always look like a pink, frilly, fairyland. I've also found some great bargains here, like a suit on the $5 rack that has these amazing buttons well over $5 on their own.
This is a fun and friendly place to shop and I dare you not to feel happy there.

On Thanksgiving I dumped 2 gallons of martinis on the floor of my car. I was very sad about the cocktails, but even sadder thinking about how I was going to get it out of my car. The interior of my car has never been shampooed in the 6 years I've had my car so it was time anyway. I took my car to Derek's and can't believe it, but it looks new again! They were so nice and sweet too - they washed the outside of the car and just made everything look great. If only they could take care of all the cleaning in my life (my yard, my house, my clothes, my office, my reputation), I'd have the most spotless existence on the planet.

Don't miss the chocolates and other lovely desserts or just pick some up for a special dinner.

I have a messy look that I think really suits me and I haven't seen anyone else with the same cut. One of the best things about Vain is that they encourage you to do your own thing. At Gary Manuel, I got a lecture if I colored or trimmed on my own, but not at Vain. They'll give you guidance. Victoria is also very involved with the community and just generally rocks. I'm happy to support her business.

I've been going to the Olympus Spa for about 5 years now (thought I refer to it as "the naked lady place"). It is a Korean spa and it isn't expensive to get in and spend the day. There are about 6 hot tubs with water of different temperatures, a cold pool with a waterfall, a sauna, a steam room and 3 "hot rooms" where you lie on a hot floor and put hot stones on yourself. They also offer very reasonably priced services and I must recommend the salt scrub. It is an everyday kind of environment rather than a "rarefied sanctuary" kind of place and you'll feel oh so much better after spending several hours there!
