The Barking Frog is located next to The Herbfarm and Red Hook, in the south-west corner of Woodinville near the wineries. The Spirit of Washington train stops just across Red Hook from it, and there's a corporate team-building jungle gym (or used to be) behind it. It's right on the Burke Gilman (sp?) trail.
Why do you care? Because this place felt to me more about image than about experience.
What's Right? Pretty good, creative food. Some unusual luxury items, e.g. Kobe Beef burgers (which kinda miss the point of Kobe which is that it is exceptionally tender; you don't NEED to grind it!) Good wine selection.
So what's my beef? The building is large, open, cement-floored, arched, with a fire in the centre. Not much sound baffling, not much by way of dining-space division. Everybody is on-show. And a lot of the people, the food, the presentation, are for show. The prices reflect the goal too. Service is decently prompt, but doesn't feel as friendly as pretty much anywhere else in Woodinville.
This would work a lot better as a dinner before going to see a play or other cultural event, when you're gussied up anyhow and going to be around people. But for a quiet semi-private dinner, not so much.
The lunch experience is better, less pretentious, a bit less expensive, and the food is still good.

The food is not the best Thai in the town but acceptable if you use the $5 coupon. The problem with this place is the hostess. She is the most rude person I have ever seen in a restaurant. She is very intrusive!!! What kind of restaurant is bringing the bill before the food comes??? I will never ever go there again...

I know this place is wildly popular, and I won't be for this post--but--I honestly wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The atmosphere really was lovely and the food was okay, but this is what really did it for me. One of the courses included a piece of lamb. This was okay by me, but for personal reasons, I didn't eat mine. Much to my surprise, the proprietor came out and proceeded to scold me for not eating this piece of meat. I explained my reason and she went on to tell me how delicious it was and that I really should at least taste it.
It seems to me that if I am the paying customer (and the bill wasn't cheap), I should be able to decide what I will and won't eat. I won't be going back--that is for sure!

Great lunch menu ... for around $6 you get appetizer, soup, rice, entree, tea, & fortune cookie. Lunch service is very swift. Food is very good, but can be on the greasy side, depending on what you order. Dinner menu is far more extensive, but I have found the service at dinner to be inconsistent, and so will normally just order take-out.

Check out Red Robin- known for their spicy, bottomless fries (yes you can buy the spice before you leave), huge hamburgers and fruity coktails. The perfect casual place for sports teams, families or quick meals. The prices are reasonable and the service is usually very prompt. Note the restaurant often gets very busy and can have a long wait- especially on weekends. If you sign up online for the mailing list you can also get a coupon for a free entree the week before and after your birthday.

Another small place tucked away in an Albertson's shopping center is Ooba's Mexican Grill. They had a lot of kind of fast foodish Mexican seafood stuff, but I was impressed that they offered fish tacos, etc, with a couple of different choices in fish. I ended up with the beer battered cod fish tacos and they were pretty yummy. You could definitely taste the beer batter. Also, there is a nice salsa bar inside. Good place for a quick lunch or dinner.

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar in Woodinville is a little smaller than its sister in Kirkland, but the food is just as good, and I would say the service is just a tad better as well.
We had a 6:30 reservation but were starving and arrived at 6:00, thinking we could have a drink and appetizer at the bar, but the hostess politely and quickly went ahead and seated us at our table. The restaurant was almost full, and there were people waiting, so it was quite nice to get seated so fast.
The wine flights are a fun way to sample new-to-you wines, but the wine list is extensive should you wish to have a glass of one of your favorites.
The food is good and moderately priced. The grilled cheese appetizer with tomato basil soup is to-die-for.

Lowell-Hunt is a jewell that we locals should do our best to keep secret. The food and service are excellent, and the last thing we want is for it to be overrun with traffic. Yes, this is a selfish view.
The only complaint I have about L-H is that it is drafty and unevenly heated. During cold weather, your table may be comfortable, or a wind tunnel.
A small inconvenience, to be sure.

More
Texas Smokehouse BBQ is a "fast food" Texas bbq place in the Hollywood Hill Vineyards shopping area. The menu features sliced pork loin, brisket, ribs, BBQ sandwiches, slow-roasted chicken, etc. Entrees are served with beans, corn bread (not the sweetened kind), and/or potato salad.
My husband and I have tried most of the meals. The brisket is pretty good, but the bone-in chicken was disappointing (i.e. no meat!). The spicy BBQ sauce is quite delicious. On Wednesdays, they have the tasty and popular 'Burnt Ends' which sell out very quickly. It's a good place for quick and hearty food. A Texan would probably not find the food very authentic though.
The eating area is large and comfortably decorated. There are a few tables outdoors in the summer.
The 2005 Entertainment Book has a half price coupon for this restaurant which makes it a decent value.
