When I go here, I like going for the free viewing outside of the building. There's a beautiful walkway full of Chihuly's glass designs. The gift shop is fun to browse in. There are cute glass blown candies and dice here that go over well as gifts. Plus, they're affordable.
The hot shop amphitheatre (with live demonstrations) is a must see here. The rest of the place isn't worthy of the admission price, I believe.
Chihuly designs can be very pretty, but are not worthy of the cost - my opinion. Extreme opulence.

The Kobetich Library is a great library although a little small. The hours are pretty good, they are closed on
Sunday and Mondays. The staff is very nice too. They have small children's section, with a table, chairs and some wooden puzzles to keep little one busy while you look at their selection. You can keep books for 3 weeks and you can rent movies for free for 2 days. They also offer a summer reading program where kids can earn prizes and free tickets to the zoo for reading books.

The staff is rude, a trainer came up to me and told me how to do crunches wrong, the desk staff runs to the front and lifts weights when the little blonde manager is not looking. One day I said something to the five teenagers hanging out at the front desk and they told the little blonde woman and she took my name down and told me not to be rude to her staff. She was going to kick me out because her employees where treating members badly. I've lived 4 blocks away since they have been open. Don't go here.

You can find all sorts of information, products and clothes that has to do with snowboarding and skating at this store. I have gone here many times for Christmas gifts and have always come back very happy. The staff is friendly and knows what they are talking about...suggestions are abundant. Not sure about the times they are open but I believe that they are open Monday through Saturday. The prices aren't cheap but you pay for perfection.

Don't get me wrong, I love REI as much as any other NW-erner outdoor enthusiast, but Backpacker Supply definitely has a cool factor going for it. Lots of great supplies for skiing (esp. nordic), hiking, snowshoeing, kayaking, etc., along w/ rentals. Their "sister business" Tahoma Outdoor Pursuits (or something like that) does kayak classes and tours, so that's kind of a cool thing to have right there in the store. Be sure to check out the "bargain" area and see if there's any good stuff there. Cool place to browse and buy outdoor clothing and equipment, and its nice to support the local guy every so often. (Though I believe they are affiliated w/ Marmot, fwiw)

There is so much to see in this area, it can take all day. There is the zoo, aquarium, gift shop, rose garden, Kidz' Zone, and I really like the Humpty Dumpty site. There is a multitude of stuff here, and I cannot remember them all.
In the zoo, I especially liked the naked mole rats. Cheap thrills.
For walking outside of the zoo, there is no charge. How nice is that?

This museum is located in downtown Tacoma , Washington. It is located right on the water front with a wonderful view. You can join for a small fee or pay to enter. If you join you no longer pay to enter and get several free guest passes per year. There is a large studio where artists are working may enter and sit in the audience and watch the process. There is a gallery with exhibits that change. There is a wonderful and quite large gift shop with books, furniture, jewelry and etc. There is a small gourmet cafe as well. Some lectures are held there and other activities for kids you just have to inquire to find out what is going on that day. This is worth the visit. There are 2 other museums on the same street. as well as cute little boutique shops.

We were drawn to the Washington State History Museum for a special exhibit on Everest, and didn't really anticipate how interesting the other parts of the museum would be. The museum is housed in a character building that imparts a lot of atmosphere. The history of Washington is told in a very interesting and creative manner, that easily engaged all of us. Make sure if you check out the fantastic collection of glass at the neighboring Union Station when you visit.

The Museum of Glass is a terrific space in which to view art -- but you can't go expecting to see lots of glass. Exhibits rotate and there are times when there's nary a breakable vase in sight. BUT visitors can always see some of the most awesome glass art around by walking from the museum across the "Chihuly Bridge of Glass." The museum has a fantastic hot shop in which patrons can almost always sit and watch glass artists at work. The gift shop is worth a stop and the cafe offers quality lunches!

If you are in the mood for bowling, this place will fit the bill. Be prepared to walk by a casino first! I've never been in a casino (I know....shame, shame), so I was kinda surprised that it was a casino and bowling alley in one. Of course curiousity had gotten the kids, so they were sneaking peeks through the doors of the casino. Too funny. But, all in all, this was a nice little bowling alley. Of course it has a snack bar, and also an arcade room. It doesn't have many lanes, maybe 20?? So, I imagine it could get quite busy on a weekend evening.
