I made the terrible mistake of boarding my sick cat with the Cat Clinic and I would advise others to avoid this vet.
After being made to wait for almost two hours past my appointment time to check her in I was presented with an estimate for care that was more than twice what I had been quoted over the phone. I waived some of the medical testing they had suggested with the qualifier, "unless, obviously, she looks like she needs it." Doctor Nemec seemed to take my displeasure at the wait along with my unhappiness with the increased estimate as a personal affront and decided that since I had a "hostile attitude" that Cat Clinic's hands were tied in the care of my cat. Unfortunately they waited until I returned and my cat was on the verge of death to inform me of this. My wonderful cat sitter who went to visit her while I was gone told me that she repeatedly told the staff that my cat looked very ill and needed more attention. The only information conveyed to me by the staff at the clinic was that she was not eating regularly and that they had made the decision to force feed her. No suggestions as to additional care were made.
Upon my return I immediately transferred her to ACCES Animal Hospital in Lake City were she was brought back to health over the course of seven days of intensive care. As if all this wasn't enough Cat Clinic sent me home with medication for someone else's sick cat, an immunosuppressant that I have no way of knowing if they were giving to my cat in error. At this point I am looking into legal action against Cat Clinic and would advise anyone seeking vet care to seek elsewhere.

I've taken my pup there a few times and the front desk people, for the most part, have been very friendly and seem to enjoy what they do. The doctors, at least the two that my dog has seen, do not listen to concerns at all and try to rush you in and out as quick as they can.

Dangerously careless and blatantly disregarded instructions from owner

More
We took our 4 lb chihuahua in for oral cleaning. At the pre-op check up, the vet tech told me that our dog could stand to eat a few less greenies (he's 4lbs for cryin out loud & in great shape). Who tells a parent that their kid is fat and then laughs in their face? This was forgiven as I felt she was just socially awkward but then she told me that he needed his nails clipped, to which I replied that we do clip them but not close as his wicks are long & a vet down in Texas clipped them too close once & made him bleed. I thought that was the end of that.
The next day we took him in for his surgery and my partner gave specific instructions to call us if they wanted to pull any teeth other than the one specified. They did call us later that afternoon to let us know that he'd lost some teeth during cleaning and that they wanted to remove some extra baby teeth. During the discussion, the same vet tech said that she was going to clip his nails. My partner told her "do NOT clip his nails. I don't trust anyone but us to do it and I do NOT want his nails clipped." The tech argued that if they cut him they had glue to stop the bleeding and that he would be knocked out anyway and wouldn't feel a thing. Needless to say, she was told again in no uncertain terms that was unacceptable and that his nails were not to be clipped.
fast forward to pick up time. The front desk lady rings us up and tells us "today your dog had a dental cleaning, blah blah, HIS NAILS CLIPPED"
WHAT?? I told her that the tech was told in no uncertain terms not to do that, to which she replied "well when a dog has oral surgery, it's best for them to have their nails cut short".
So at that, I stopped arguing or even caring, I just wanted out of there. HOWEVER, it gets worst. That same receptionist gives us his pain pills and anti-inflammatory pills with instructions of "one a day". To which we ask if we can split the pills up as he's a 4lb chihuahua and the pills were quite large. She replies not to do that, but to cover the entire pill in butter and shove it down his throat if he won't take them. O.K.
fast forward again to when we get home. I'm reading the medication and I see that it says "25 mg" and "give 1/4 a day until all medication used". My partner then reads the medication advisory which states that 2mg per lb is the dose. That equals 8mgs NOT 25! So we call the vet. The admin lady is very rude and says to do what the receptionist told us. We then tell her about the advisory and that it doesn't sound right. She then says "well I can get a vet if you want" (UM YES PLEASE). So after holding a few minutes she comes back and routinely apologizes but yes our dog is to have 1/4 pill a day not the entire pill. HE COULD HAVE DIED!!! Seriously, we will not be going back here. You'd think that a veterinary hospital would care more for their patients welfare and not so much about being late for dinner. I'm so glad we pushed the issue but am saddened that many pet owners probably (and rightly so) trust their initial advice at the cost of their pets comfort, health and at worst case scenario, death.

We have been taking our dogs to Eastlake Vets for over 15 years. Dr. Anderson is my absolute favorite, but the other vet there is great, too. They have always taken great care of our dogs, and when the time came for one of our dogs to go, they were incredibly kind and helpful. We even got a card from them later. It was a rough time for our whole family, but Dr. Anderson and his assistants were wonderful.

I went to this vet office a couple times because I lived directly across the street. How convenient, right? But it was pretty bad. I had a couple assistants coming in and out of the room beforehand to start the visit like nurses at a doctor's office. I was used to small vet clinics and was pretty surprised by this. The vet finally came to see my dog, and when I asked for a refill on my dog's regular flea pills the vet insisted I did not know what I was talking about and those pills did not exist - she refused to look into it and help me get them. She wanted me to switch to the topical treatment, which I did not want. I asked if the vet had any tips for behavior modification for my dog, and she said she'd think about it and let me know. She ended up sending me a huge packet of research in the mail and charging me for her time of collecting the research articles. Finally, at the end of the visit it was time to clip my dogs nails. My dog hates having her feet touched, so they muzzled her and brought in two people to hold her down while a third clipped. It was horrible! No other vet before or since has had her held down or muzzled to clip her nails. She's fear aggressive, so that just makes it worse.
I was not impressed with this clinic at all. I am very glad they saved the other person's cat, but I cannot recommend it for regular visits. Find somewhere else - somewhere that they care about their clients!

I took my 4 year old American Eskimo Dog in recently for care and was
very impressed with Dr. Karen Konz. She was very sweet and gentle with
my dog who is quite a baby when it comes to getting anything done to her.
She also took the time to talk with me about vaccinations and the importance
of my dog getting them. Her receptionist/assistant Abby was very nice too.
I will definitely bring my dog back to see Dr. Konz.

I went to this clinic on a friend's recommendation and was very impressed. My cat had a problem with itchy ears, and the vet (Dr. Windom) did a nice job diagnosing and treating it. (Problem was not earmites.) She also seemed to genuinely care about my cat. And she taught me a bit about the anatomy of the cat ear and was very personable.
This clinic is not a shiny, slick-hospital type of place. It is more a basic, no-frills place, which I actually prefer. The bill was reasonable too. I will definitely be back.

More
After being a client at Cat's Exclusive for 16 years, we were recently dismissed as clients because we complained about the horrendous treatment we got from a vet who looks like she has been out of veterinary school for about 10 minutes. We used to always see Richard Lester, but recently we brought our 1 year-old Abyssinian in for an ER visit. He was running a temperature and his breathing was rapid and shallow. We were shown into a room with a "Doctor" Fleigel who decided to do not diagnostic testing, even when we begged her to. She told us that "there is a nasty virus going around that is affecting indoor-only cats, and the reason your cat is breathing that way is because he is trying to cool himself down".
LIAR!
Cats do not do this. He couldn't breathe because he was dying of pneumonia and fluid was building up in his lungs. He needed to be on intravenous antibiotics, oxygen and needed a chest X-Ray. Because we had just gotten some new kittens 2 weeks prior, "Doctor" Fleigel believed that he just had a simple upper repertory virus and that since we had an appointment with our regular vet, Richard Lester the next day, she decided to take a "let's just wait and see" approach, despite our objections that he was truly sick and needed diagnostic testing done.
She sent our beautiful 1 year and 3 day old cat home to die.
By the time our appointment with Richard Lester happened the next day, Qaalee was clinically dead. He was in a coma, one organ after another shutting down. 7 hours after "Doctor" Fleigel sent us away, I called Dr. Alexa Allen, DVM and described Qaalee's symptoms to her. Even though it was after 8pm, she agreed to come over right away. She took one quick look at Qaalee and told us very frankly "it doesn't look good" and accompanied us to Animal Critical Care Emergency Services on Lake City Way (please see my reviews of both Dr. Alexa Allen and ACCES~~which are highly positive) where they tried for nearly 20 hours to save Qaalee's life.
After Qaalee died, I called Cat's Exclusive to complain about them and to speak to Richard Lester, who I have been taking my purebreds to for |
