this store is just fabulous. first, it's large, easy to get to (off of greenwood on 85th) and has a huge parking lot.
second, the prices are fair. not super-cheap but fair.
finally, the store itself is amazing! when you first walk in, there's a newborn and two's/three's section on your right. from there everything is categorized by activity/toy type - music, art, trucks & cars, books, costumes, sports, etc. they have an incredible selection and ttt carries the cool toys that you can't ever find anywhere else. if you are a fan of the 'baby einstein' videos, you'll really appreciate top ten toys since they seem to carry all of the toys that are shown on the videos.

Honestly, I avoid even going into Clover. The toys are darling in that Germanic way that is the opposite of the crappy "planned obsolescence" of most toys. But do you really need to spend $30 for a felt pirate's hat for your nephew? And as for the clothes, I could probably commission my own designs to be produced for less than that. Great place to go for that one special gift, then get the heck out before you lose control. They do publish coupons here & there, which I approve of.

This toy store, just east of University Village, is jam packed with great toys for kids. They have extensive wooden train systems, great toys for baby, lots of coloring and activity books & cool puzzles and cute stuffed animals. One example; I was looking for simple, large pictured coloring books for my 3 year olds and it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Pinocchio pulled through and at only $2 per coloring book!
The selection isn't your run of the mill Toys R Us stuff (although Toys R Us does have its place) and is worth a stop.

I love this store- which features wooden, non-electric toys. It's a great place to buy gifts or toys for your young one! I haven't taken my son here yet but I will soon, I can't wait to pick out a special toy for him. A friend recommended this place to me which I hadn't noticed before. I will definitely be buying future birthday presents here!

If I can't find an item at a chain, I tend to look at The Right Start -- they almost always have what I am looking for! I like the location behind the University Village, but there is also one in Bellevue. I particularly like their selection of stylish diaper bags. They have a line that looks like Petunia Picklebottom, but at less than half the price! Their feeding section is also great, with bowls that suction to the high-chair or table, and a wide variety of cute bibs and utensils. It's really a fun store to browse -- I always find something I'd like!

I love visiting this store everytime I visit U-Village. They have a great selection of Robeez, Zutano, and other unique baby clothes in addition to toys, and just about any other accessory you would need for baby. They also have toys for older kids but I haven't wandered over to that section yet. You can set up a registry here, which is great since the items, all high quality, can be quite pricey!

You know a toy store is doing something right when adults as well as children want to shop there. Such is the case at Magic Mouse. The top floor is home to expensive stuffed animals and other assorted small toys. The basement contains sale items, whole room dedicated to puzzles, and books. They also sell some politically motivated "toys" here for adults. Customer service is unobtrusive yet helpful and prices are average.

If your hobby is putting things together such as airplanes, cars, helicopters, and other toys then this is the place for you. This little hobby shop is located in Renton and has all sorts of fun toys you can put together. They sell everthing in kits where it explains step by step on how to put certain things together. Its a very fun but expensive hobby. What I used to do was buy the kit, put together the model, and re-sell it on e-bay. It was a fun yet great learning experience and i never lost money in this hobby. Check this store out.

More
When I first moved to Seattle, I heard Archie McPhee's was a fun store to check out, one of Seattle's must-visits. I thought it sounded cool, but I never made it out that way. I saw the store featured on the Food Network. Still, I didn't go. And when I learned it was within a mile of where I used to get my hair done, I shrugged and thought one day. Perhaps its because of all the hype, perhaps I'm just lame and don't get it, I don't know. I finally went in yesterday and, well, Archie McPhee's just didn't do it for me.
Yes, there are a lot of fun things to look at. If you were ever in need of a plastic wedding couple, plastic baby or other plastic figurines (perhaps of woodland creatures with which to decorate your car, a la the van in Pike Place Market), then I would say Archie McPhee's is the best place to go. Outside of that, it's worth a browse or two and that's it. There's a section of weird apparatuses that seem more geared for a costume shop (pulley and plastic tubes, anyone?), but I couldn't tell if they were functional or purely decorational. I saw some funny things that would work as a gag gift (bacon bandage strips, for example), but even with the collection of small and unique goods I left without buying a single thing.
While I was disappointed, I didn't dislike Archie McPhee's. It's great for party gift bags, favors and stocking stuffers, just limited if you're looking for actual gifts. I mean, where else am I going to go and get a hot-dog clock for $5?

You have to go downstairs for this shop, and its not very big, but if you are an amateur magician or just want to pick up some new joke items, its the best place to go! I've gotten stink bombs, fart spray, fake vomit, flash paper! Wallet traps, Chinese finger traps! all sorts of items! every once in a while, the sales people will perform a magic trick with one of the items behind the counter, so its almost like a small magic show as well, it also gets sales for those items! Just don't sit in the chair in the corner, there's a very tiny tac you cant see and you'll get a sharp prick in the behind!! A great fun visit if your at the market!
