I just happened upon this place one day and go back often for a nice dose of mac-n-yeese. Hillside takes veg in another direction. Add a little jerk salt, Jamaican flair, and an eco-friendly environment - and you've got a damn fine sandwich shop.
Everytime I've eaten there - there's only been one employee, so depending on how full the restaurant is - the food can take a little while. It is, however, well worth the wait.
Try the Mac-n-yeese or the faux tuna sandwich - my faves.
They also have a location in Tacoma. I had the best brunch ever!

This place has the best sandwiches! Normally, I would say, "why pay $6-7 for a sandwich?" but with Husky, the grilled sandwiches are very comforting on a cold, cloudy day. Try the Chicken Pesto, it is oh so tasty. The soup is also very wholesome and filling. I've tried most of their sandwiches and I've enjoyed them all. The people that work there are very nice and helpful. For the most part, there's always high school girls behind the counter and boy, those gals make a mean sandwich!

Homemade bread in Ballard

More
On my birthday this year a friend and I stopped in at the Ballard Great Harvest Bread Company. I think one of the friendly, pleasant counter persons offered us a slice of the Sun-dried Tomato Pesto Bread, which was so good that I bought a loaf a moments later.
It was super-delicious, with large chunks of juicy, tangy, mouth-watering sun-dried tomatoes and swirls of pesto in light, almost flaky wheat-grain.
A month later I went back and got another loaf. This time I could barely taste the tomato. In fact, after finishing it, I asked myself: Why does this taste so different from the first loaf I had had of it? Then I recalled that something to be missing. After further rumination, I "hit" on it: the missing something were the juicy chunks of sun-dried tomatoes that burst open with flavor and combined with the swirls of pesto made it SO memorable.
The fact that the bread had been sitting around in a plastic bag also made the crust not much of a crust at all. It seemed more like a loaf of "Wonderbread" (sandwich bread).
In fact, I couldn't recall at all that there were any chunks of sun-dried tomato. I called them and explained my disappointment. I think the owner/baker explained that sometimes a loaf may not get very much of a particular ingredient (my paraphrase of his words) and that THAT is a rare event. He offered to let me try another loaf of the same, saying they stood by their breads.
Two weeks later, I stopped in and got a replacement loaf. This time I had the store clerk place it in a paper bag (they bag the loaves around 5:00 pm, I guess. I got there at least a couple of hours before they started to do this).
This time there definitely were some pieces of sun-dried tomatoes, but they were mostly "flakes," rather than chunks. It didn't have the richness and burst of flavor of the first loaf.
Nonetheless I do appreciate this establishment's sincere attempts to remedy the situation. I generally like breads that are either chewier and/or have some sort of crust. One would do best to get their breads --they bake once a day according to their staff--by early afternoon, when they are at their optimal freshness and are still sitting on racks (not bagged).
And they have a schedule of the different breads they do different days, which certainly makes for variety.
As an occasional change from the "hard-crust" breads of Macrina, or other artisan breads that can be purchased at PCC, etc., this can be a welcome change.
In fact, though this is not the kind of bread I would eat with cheese, it makes a nice accompaniment (spelt or honey wheat) with butter to spaghetti and other hearty meals. The bread reminds me the of the delicious home-made buns we used to in our school cafeteria decades ago when I was in elementary school.
There is a small, nice sit-down area in front (they serve coffee, etc.) and a few chairs outside. I have always enjoyed Ballard for its unpretentious, relaxed, close-to-the-Locks atmosphere. So I will undoubtedly occasionally drop in here again...
As I recall, the local supermarkets do not carry Great Harvest Bread. Hence, you have to go to one of the bakery/store outlets on Sandpoint Way, in Ballard, or in West Seattle. These are all franchises...

Okay, so it isn't my top choice for lunch spots, but I'll definitely swing by if I'm in a rush. Their food is reliable. The bread is freshly made, though not top quality by any means. The veggies are fresh (enough) and the meat is fine. It's nothing to write home about, but it'll fill the belly if you're in a rush!

Jackrabbit is extremely crowded during lunchtime, but I can't figure out why. I've eaten there many times (it's across from where I work) but never been at all impressed. They have several different lines for different things (one for salads, one for sandwiches, etc. so if you're with people who are going to order something different from you, you won't be waiting together). These lines are not well marked and I've seen tons of people wait for 10 minutes in the wrong line only to get to the front and try to order a salad from the sandwich people and get sent to the back of the line. In sum, it's crowded, mediocre food, and expensive for what you ultimately get.

Here ye, here ye:
One of the 3 Seattle area TCBYs is housed in a Subway in Shoreline. I anticipated making a smooth transition to this location from the Lynnwood one because it's only 18 round trip I-5 exits, as opposed to Lynnwood's 28. So far I've regretted this decision every time I've made it.
Pros? No Christian music since they're a Subway first and foremost. Cons? Many.
Perhaps if I had a discussion with the staff they would understand what ridiculous lengths I go to to get frozen yogurt...primarily because I'm stupid. Maybe then they wouldn't insist on not only barely filling up a regular waffle cone, but then proceeding to weigh it. It's powder mixed with water and frozen. And I'm paying nearly $5.00 for it. Just fill it up. End of story.

These are the most amazing sandwiches. I'm sure Salumi rivals it, but the two times I tried to go, didn't have time to wait in the line out the door. The Ciabatta (both the meat-lovers sandwich and the homemade bread it's on) is almost too good to be true. The atmosphere's a lot nicer than you'd expect for a storefront on Aurora too. Well worth going out of your way for.

More
It seems kind of silly to review a corporate establishment like this but there is a lot more to ones experience in a restaurant than just the same old food.
One of those ingredients that these "Sandwich Artists" forgot to learn at Harvard was simple common courtesy and customer service.
This Subway is sadly the official corporate home to the rudest, meanest, most disgusting human beings in the organization.
You can walk into this sweat box that lacks a properly opening door and find the most ignorant "Artists" in the world. Your request will have to be repeated numerous times, and then they will ask you again what you said, once again you will repeat. When you ask for anything extra god forbid like pickles you will be lucky to get two more. The frustration eating in such a poorly managed dive has overcome me more than once and I have walked out in the middle of making my sandwich. There is no sense giving business to rude, inconsiderate people who don't listen in the first place.
This is the Larry's of Subway stores. Maybe one day we can take comfort in finding a padlock on this door.
