Alex and I used to snicker at Charlie Hong Kong whenever we went by. My gosh, how much more could you poke fun of Asian people in this town! But then we had a friend come to Santa Cruz who had heard about it and wanted to try it out. So off we went.
Despite the name, CHK has pretty good food. Vietnamese fusion, or something like that, CHK uses organic and fresh ingredients. The food has great flavor, although it can get overwhelming towards the end.
They have a tiny parking lot, and you may end up driving around in search of a spot. Also, it can get busy so seating can be an issue as well.

Charlie Hong Kong's is a tiny place with food that packs a punch. Big earthenware bowls full of noodles, rice, fresh vegetables and sauted fish and meat. Vegan and vegetarian options abound from a menu that is concise, to the point, but offers a lot. It's fast-healthy-food with a twist. Try their teriyaki salmon bowl, two large chunks of sauted teriyaki salmon with grated carrots and snap peas over a bowl of fluffy rice... to die for!

Charlie Hong Kong's "Love's your body." How do they show it? By using organic ingredients and keeping their food chock full of veggies and fresh meats. The menu changes with the specials and includes dishes originating from a variety of countries. A little tip is to order in as the portions are much larger.
