This is a very small store in the CIty Centre building lobby downtown (which is full of upscale shops). They have amazing art jewelry of all styles and a line of exquisite fine jewelry. This is beautiful hand made work, so the prices reflect that craftsmanship. I think that least expensive is in the $300 range and it goes up to $3000 for finely crafted gold, platinum and precious gem pieces. Even if you aren't in the market for wearables, it is worth a visit just to see some of the pieces. They also glass art jewelry for the glass lovers!

I bought some fine jewelry from here and it was a great experience. If I ever was to buy some nice diamonds or other jewelry I would do it here. Excellent quality and excellent service. Very good prices compared to the retail stores.

I wouldn't have expected it but these folks were pretty good at getting me setup with a new watch. They were quick and unpretentious, which was much better than I thought would happen. They were also open during mall hours, which made them accessible to me.

More
Look no further. This is your jewelry partner for life. My then-fiance and I lived near Pike Place Market and were wandering around looking for engagement/wedding rings. We saw some neat things in the window of Gold Mine and walked into the tiniest store ever, with a geeky dude in a magnifying helmet and his equally geeky looking female partner. The cool jewelry didn't match the mineral geeks behind the counter...or did it? We aren't jewelry people, and we got the most BRILLIANT education into gems and metalurgy imaginable. These people have inherent style. They took our wedding band ideas--stripes of white and yellow gold--and made matching, but slightly different custom ring designs. They made the molds and scheduled a "casting party" where we helped cast our own rings from molten metal. They even served us champagne afterward to celebrate. The rings turned out beautifully and guard our marriage today. Every bit of jewelry we've bought since has come from them and I would never go to another place. And we have never been overwhelmed by the pricing--there is truly something for everyone.

More
Greenlake jewelers is an old-fashioned jeweler in that the craftsmen and women work right there in front of your eyes. They specialize in custom jewelry and can creat whatever you have in mind. If you don't already have something in mind they have lots and lots of books to look through that show other people's and designers' creations. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They will take pains to work within your budget and timeframe. They seem to take great pride in every piece and will answer all your questions happily. This is a fun place to look around, even if you're not in the market for jewelry, but just out for a stroll on Greenlake.

More
In Seattle for decades (my Dad had a custom wedding ring made there in 1967), Monroe & Crane specializes in custom and estate jewelry. My Mom recently inherited several pieces of jewelry, and has loved working with them to reset a few and refurbish others. They have also worked closely with her to design new pieces that make use of the great stones, but fit her own style.
The service and quality is top notch, and I imagine the price goes with that. But if it's a special piece, it's certainly worth talking with them and getting a estimate. They're located downtown on Pine St., across from Nordstrom, and are open Tuesday - Saturday.

I've had great experience with the folks at Turgeon-Raine. They provided me with a professional appraisal of some jewlery that I inherited, which they also resized, cleaned, and repaired. They keep a copy of the appraisal on hand and will provide it to your insurance company directly (as well as providing you with a copy).
They provided a professional atmosphere with down-to-earth (not snobby) service in a very upscale environment. They finished my work early and stayed in touch throughout the process.

More
Our assessment of Ben Bridge (downtown location) is that your experience with the store will be most dependent on the salesperson you happen to work with. We were lucky enough to get a great salesperson (I believe her name was Jennifer) who was very knowledgable, patient, helpful and not pushy at all. We had some problems getting the ring sized right, but she assured us that they would keep trying until it was right. I do have reservations about the skill of the person who sizes the ring, though. And the other salespeople we dealt with on subsequent visits to pick up the resized ring were not so good. If we had had one of them helping us initially, I don't think we would have been very confident about buying from Ben Bridge.

More
Although the giant boulder-on-a-rock on the sign outside proclaims the E.E. Robbins is the engagement ring store, don't let that fool you - they'll gladly sell you a matching wedding ring if you want. Not only do they have a large variety of rings on hand, but they'll happily custom make you one as well, and unlike the pretentious chains like Tiffany's, they'll do it in 2 months instead of 6.
As it happened, I got my engagement ring from Artas Usuwil, but that was only because they could come up with a design I liked sooner than E.E. Robins did.
