I love the variety in here! The atmosphere is very inviting and I have been introduced to many new foods here. The service has always been helpful and loves to share their information. Prices are kind of high, though. I think that is to be expected in this area and with the specialty of the items involved.
This place has alot of hard to find and unqiue items in it.

You can cut the 'tude with a knife in this place. Is it me? I mean tea is delightful but it is a tea house, not a meditation room. We went and felt out of the clique and didn't even love our tea. Try it if you like but I'd rather make a brew of tea in my living room where laughing and joking is considered the norm.

There's a number of seriously good wine shops in Seattle, and although I wouldn't consider these guys among the best, they're solid for selection and fair on price. I'm not sure how much of their success is attributable to their location in the Market, but they've built out enough selection and a decent enough reputation to keep me coming back. They also carry complete lines of Reidel stems, which not every wine seller will do. Specialty include Northwest wines, especially Washington and Oregon, but the California section holds its own. I find myself stopping in mostly to try something interesting at a tasting or if I'm in the Market anyway.

Mmmm... Splendido. My wife and I used to have Splendido Friday's even when we were broke we would have enough scratch for Splendido coffee (did I mention their prices are really really reasonable?) These people are SO incredibly nice (I know it's a barista job to be nice but these folks have a heaping helping of cheer) great music usually playing as well (last time it was Johnny Cash). They never scorch the milk either... best coffee in Seattle!

I love this neighborhood wine shop.
They have a great selection and knowledgable people work there.
Wine snobs will love the choices they have made and laypeople will enjoy the friendly reception to naive questions.
I even brought my Swiss friends here when they were seeking specialty wines to use for, and drink with, fondue. They were quite happy with the place.

McCarthy and Schiering has two locations in Seattle - Ravenna and the top of Queen Anne Hill.
We use the Ravenna store for nearly all our wine purchases. The staff is so knowledgeable and willing to help. They have always been right on target with recommendations when I describe what I'm looking for, and I'm not a wine pro! I use "regular" language to describe what I want. But their help has made me look like a real expert when I serve wine to friends....
They do free tastings every Saturday and often have the winemakers attend (especially for Northwest wines). They have also opened a bottle for me to try before buying, even when it wasn't part of a tasting. That's good service!
They have a Vintage Select buying club that gives you a 15% discount on all purchases (I think it's a one-time fee of $100 or so to join). They do a weekly email newsletter and quarterly letter too that describes upcoming releases, let's you buy wine futures, and so on.
They also helped me pick wines for my wedding, which was amazing because they weren't going to be the suppliers! I had to choose wines from a list that the catering facility provided, and the folks at M&S helped me choose which ones would be great wines at a reasonable price. They were very honest about which ones were being marked up too high. And they weren't even going to make a profit from helping me with this, other than having me be a loyal customer who recommends them on websites!

More
Esquin is one of the largest -- if not most complete -- wine retailers in Seattle. Aside from a monstrous selection of wines from around the planet, these guys also handle a full suite of accessories and a great site for storage. To boot, as collectors are often want to release their collected wines to auction, Esquin handles those transactions and affords some of their best buyers first crack at some great (and well cellared) juice.
