Unless you are staying here using your Hilton Points, I had rather you find a better place to stay. The hotel is just ok with not much view (well ok they have better views but the room we got had average!!!) For the price that we got charged and for what we got in Marriott, I had pick Marriott any day. For the same price we got Ocean View and free buffet breakfast where they have fresh fruit, Freshly made to order eggs, Fresh Juice among other things.
I had rather stay away from this one with outdated design...unless of course you are using your points or they change their outlook

Our first meal in Monterey, CA was at the Fish Hopper. Amazing view of the Monterey Bay and the Fisherman's Warf. Great food. Great atmosphere. Heat lamps (a must due to the cool climate). The prices were a bit high. Definitely touristy pricing.

It was very disappointing to hear from my parents, that what should've been a wonderful weekend spent with their grandchildren included a very unsatisfactory customer service on Gilbert's part. Our family has been coming to Gilberts for years, and for the past several years, my parents have done a weekend trip to Monterey with their grandchildren which included a stop at Gilberts. Without fail! However, my parents were very distraught that their server Erika, on Saturday Aug 25 '07 did not even bother to exert ANY kind of customer service to them. Who took their drinks? An apologetic busgirl. Who followed up on their order? No one. Who followed up if they had drinks? No one. And Erika had the audacity to tell my parents that it was a busy night? There is absolutely no reason for that excuse and it is even more appalling that their wait staff would even say that to the guests. I am hoping that Erika's unprofessional behavior does not put a cloud on Gilberts, however, based on a very poor experience that my parents encountered over the weekend, it will definitely be a note to remember when recommending places to eat at Monterey. As a customer, I would sincerely hope that the management would take an extra effort in educating their wait staff in regards to customer service. To say that we will not be having a meal at Gilberts again is definitely an understatement!

Located on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey, CA, Isabella's has to try hard to attract the customers among competing places with similar fresh-seafood menus, and it does a pretty good job. The menu is quite extensive, offering many fresh seafood choices, with crab and lobster at market prices.
The interior of the restaurant is quite upscale for a wharf location, and overall we got a great service. The butter garlic dungeness crab was a specialty that day, and it's definitely worth trying out, if you feel like having a big meal, since the crabs served are generally pretty large.
The restaurant doesn't offer a good selection of alcoholic or specialty drinks, but it's well compensated by their wine selection. Wines were generally overpriced, since they figured out that when you get great food combined with the view of Monterey Bay, you'd want to complement it with a nice bottle no matter what.
The dessert selection is pretty good, with about 7 desserts brought out on a specialty tray. The helper to the waiter (not the waiter himself) turned out to have very little knowledge of the dessert names and ingredients, but the waiter made excellent recommendations.
Isabella's has quite a few outside seats, that turned out to be too windy when we were there at lunch hour. However, the fast-changing weather is compensated by the view of sea lions and departing whale-watching boats.
