My friend lives right around the corner from this place, and we sometimes go in the pizza parlor entrance on Friday nights when it tends to get a bit busy. The pizza is great, very tender yet crisp crust with awesome toppings. I get sardines but nobody else will eat my pizza =(.

I am a born and bred New Yorker, so I am a purist when it comes to pizza. I have suffered greatly the last 15 years I've lived in LA because there has been nothing close to real NY Pizza. That is still true. I find Alessi's pizza nothing like a NY slice, with rivers of oil running down your chin from the generous amounts of mozzerella, and the medium-thick crust. However, Alessi's creations stand on their own as delicious and important pizza. Theirs is thin crust, and that crust is flavorful, crisp on the edges and chewy the rest of the way through. Perfect. Their sauce is great--perfectly seasoned to be really flavorful but not overwhelming. Then there is an enormous choice of toppings--I've had the Canadian bacon(ham) and mushrooms, which is a great pizza topping combo. There is a full Italian restaurant there, but I go to the pizzeria entrance on Highland and get a pizza for two for about $11 to take home hot.

I love this place because I was raised in NY, and as you can imagine, LA has some of the worst pizza on the planet. This place doesn’t come close to NY but still has awesome pizza with tons of available toppings. Skip the pepperoni, go for something different like bacon. You won’t be disappointed.
