My cousin had a terrible experience with Hoffman's for her July wedding a couple of years ago. Two women carried the cake in and literally set it on the cake table without providing any instructions to my aunt or any relatives helping to set up. Since this was a day with 95 degree weather, about 3 hours later when it was time to serve the cake, the cake was melting and falling apart. It was a very lousy way to treat paying customers, especially considering they charged an additional $50.00 for delivery and set-up!
That being said, I have eaten in the shop 3 or 4 times over the years, and they have wonderful European-style pastries and tasty breakfast items as well. If you can purchase something that you can carry out on your own, enjoy. If you are dependant on them to deliver and set up a cake, look elsewhere.

There are plenty of good things to say about Costco. Fruitios. Kirkland Signature Albacore Tuna. Turkey burgers. 3 gallons of Mr. Yoshida's Teriyaki sauce. Eclectic music and DVD choices. Buying the assorted box of muffins but only eating the middle row of chocolate ones.
Completely inconsequential compared to their food court. $1.50 buys you satiation, while $2.75 buys you a one-way to Gluttonville. Nothing beats a polish sausage AND soda for $1.50, and the $1.25 swirl yogurt is probably close to 6 normal frozen dessert servings. Amongst a few others I've discovered, this location's food court is outside so you don't even have to be a member to profit from this phenomenon.

More
The Bridle Trails Red Apple Market is pretty much what you would expect from a supermarket located just north of Bridle Trails Park. It is a little pricy but the inventory is upscale. For example, the jelly selection includes local brands. The produce is high quality and tilts toward organic. Washington Mutual has a branch inside the store.

Larry's has everything you could possibly ask for in a supermarket. It has bulk foods as well as a whole health food section. The fresh foods in the deli is also a plus. The store is huge, and more organic friendly then most stores I have shopped at, yet it is not too 'out there' that they do not carry your every day regular brands. They carry Veet, which may not mean anything to most readers, but it keeps me coming back :) I associate Larry's with 'Fresh' more than any other place Ive shopped, but it is a bit expensive.

Bartell drug store is not much different from alongs or a Walgreen's, in fact its probably just a tad pricier than most other drug stores.. Tho they are usually pretty friendly, there isn't much to be said in terms of how much different they are, except that they are smaller. I give them an Ok rating since they've been in the area for such a long time, but with bigger chains moving in, they cant really compete with the prices or size...And their own brand stuff is almost as pricey as the top brand stuff.. Not bad.. but nothing special.

When I was planning my wedding, my Mom and I stopped by The Bridal Garden to check out some shoes.
As I was sitting there trying on a pair, I overheard the owner say goodbye to her customer and then turn to another girl working there. She said," Ugh. Girls on a budget!"
I was so turned off by this I took off the shoes and left. I would never go back!

Park Place Books is easy to miss, nestled in a corner next to Noah's Bagels underneath TGI Friday's. The store is quiet and clean and offers a wide variety of books to choose from. There are also a few gift items and accessories that make excellent gifts. A great alternative to the loud, overcrowded chain book stores.
