Riverbend has two golf courses, an eighteen hole executive that is good for chipping practice and beginners, and a full 6000+ yard course. A good flat, dry walking course, the challenges come from design features and water hazards. You don't notice you're in a busy area for commerce. Nearby walking trail and lots of area restaurants but the on-grounds restaurant has a full bar, good sandwiches, salads and snacks. It has easy highway access but lies between 1-5 and I-167 in downtown Kent, along the Duwamish river so use a map the first time you come. Call ahead for tee times, they are the area's busiest.

I just went for this advanced driving skills class today. It was fantastic. I have finally learned to drive my car, as opposed to learning to operate a motor vehicle as I did in my teens/early twenties.
You can check out the school website at:
http://www.proformanceracingschool.com/
In the morning, we went over a lecture covering how to properly setup the car, where to look, how to properly use ABS/non-ABS brakes, how to properly execute a turn, etc. We went over a couple of driving exercises, and then proceeded to the racetrack in the afternoon.
It is amazing how much difference a driver's skill makes to the car's overall performance. When my instructor took the steering wheel and put the pedal to the metal around the racetrack, my G35 coupe _smoked_ two Porsche 911s! Definitely one of the more satisfying moments in my life :-)
I would highly recommend this one-day course ($400+) to anyone who operates a car. The skills they teach in this course are very useful even on normal roads, and could potentially save your life one day, were you go get into a life-threatening situation on the road:-)

This facility is fairly new having only been built a few years ago. The rink is in great shape and a good place to play some hockey. Plus, plenty of stands and seating for any fans that may show up. The locker rooms are a bit of a dump, but they serve their purpose.
Despite being a fairly new building, for some reason the architects couldn't seem to come up with plans for a few water fountains in the place. (If there are some they're well hidden.) Nowhere to grab a drink for either spectators or players. This may have been intended to try to entice people into the small bar located in the building. Although, I don't usually look for a macro brew to fill up my water bottle before a game. If you're going to a game at Kent Ice Centre be sure you bring some full water bottles.

Aside from the local video rental store, there really isn't a good place to catch a show in Maple Valley. For a great movie theater, try heading down Kent-Kangley until you reach Kent Station. The theater just opened in summer of 2006 so it is pretty clean and has good sound and nice stadium seating. There are also some good dinner choices in case you miss the 7:00 show! :-)

Just wanted to spread the news to any crafty folks out there that a new yarn store opened in downtown Kent. It's called Renaissance Yarns and it's on Meeker by the RR tracks. I went week after it opened and so far, so good. I'm just moving to Kent so I'm excited to have a great yarn store so close by...
