... I decided I wanted to move to Seattle. Granted, I was 9 and it wasn't my decision to make. It has a huge variety of rides so there is something for everyone. I would suggest bringing your own food so you don't get stuck buying overpriced meals and you can save your money for cotton candy. This place is definitely worth the drive.

Enchanted Village is one of the few places in Washington that has roller coasters. I am a big fan of roller coasters and have been to many of big ones in Japan, California, and Florida but the ones here are very small. You can't really get a thrill from the rides if it only lasts for 30secs and the drops are sooooo small.

The Knutzen Family Theatre is a small venue for plays and live music appropriate for the whole family. I have been to two music shows and they both had disappointing attendance. The shows were fantastic - one was holiday jazz with Greta Matessa and the other was a Celtic band from British Columbia. The only reason I think the attendance was low was due to bad marketing. You only hear about the shows through the Fed. Way Parks & Rec. publication. So, call their phone number and see if you can get on their mailing list or something!

Music is exciting! People have a passion for music. When you walk into Helmer's it's like a morgue. Yes, they have the instruments, the music sheets, and all the paraphrenalia, but no one is excited and I don't even think I heard music being played over the speakers. Oh well, I guess if you just want to buy a guitar, you can find one. They also have lessons in house. They have a few sound-proof rooms where the lessons are held for about 30 minutes. They can give you some names of teachers that are currently accepting students and then it's up to you to call the teacher and see if you can agree on a time slot.

There aren't very many roller skating rinks around. Pattison's is an institution in Federal Way. The rink is nice, the music is great, and there are plenty of places for the non-skaters to sit. Many elementary schools and church groups hold skate nights at Pattison's. You can choose your music selection [like Christian music] if you want. Pattison's also has birthday rooms for use. People bring in their own food for special events even though Pattison's also has hot food and cold drinks for sale. I've heard the weekend crowd can get pretty dicey, but I've never actually witnessed it. Pattison's also has a champion speed skating team, so if you're child is interested, this is a good place to check it out.

This business is owned by a very nice lady who has a last name of "Glaze". She says she always knew she would have her own business in either pottery or donuts. This is one of those "paint yourself" places with the normal selections of pottery and glazes. The price of the piece includes using her facility, her glazes, and her kiln [she fires it for you!] She has several books and magazines you can look at while you are waiting for your child to finish painting. The examples of finished work are very professional. I think Ms. Glaze has won some awards at the Puyallup Fair.
