Like dozens of other loyal fans, I've followed Katina from her salon in Seattle to her new in-home salon in Edmonds. Katina has cut and styled my hair for well over 15 years now.
It's a beautiful salon - and Katina can do it all (color, cut, perm, you name it). She listens well and is attuned to how the hair works with the face works with the lifestyle, etc.
Not only that, I can usually haul my daughter with me and she can watch TV on the big screen while I get thoroughly pampered (and enjoy my free bottled water, latest People magazine and treats)!
It's a home so the parking is a cinch. Katina is the consummate professional and her rates are unbelievably good. Highly recommended!

I had long hair for about 10 years.. When i finally decided to go spikey and short, I went here.. They listened to how i described how i had it, and how i just wanted to be more modern and gave me a lot of opinions and choices and worked with me to get a style i liked. I think they got a bit farther than the average hair cutters who charge 10 dollars for a haircut, and because of thats its a bit pricier, I wouldn't say its for rich people, but if your a guy who wants a good style and doesn't just want to go to the 10 dollar hair cut places, try Matthew Robert salon!

Here's the deal. I've been seeing Becky (the owner) off and on since I was about 13. My Mom and Aunt have seen her consistently for at least 12 years. She's a kick in the pants to talk to - very outgoing and we have developed a nice report.
I wish I lived closer to Edmonds, I'd make her my one and only. Living so close to downtown is an evil temptation and makes me want to try a bunch of new (and not as good) hair places.
Becky frequently sees more than one client at a time, but I've never felt that my service suffered as a result. I might be under a dryer while she dyes someone else's hair, but it hasn't been an issue. If you think this might bug you, see someone else. But really, she's worth it.

I am very particular about my hair stylists. I found Anthony at Salon Soma about a year ago and am very happy with him. He loves what he does and you always feel great after a visit. I have friends who live in Seattle and drive to Soma in Edmonds for their haircuts (different stylists).

Did I drive 16 miles to get a haircut when I am surrounded by plenty of other choice salons? Yes. But did I get an excellent haircut AND pay less than $30 for a cut, shampoo and a lot of personal attention? Yes, yes and yes!
After spending one morning exploring Alderwood Mall, I happened upon a sales clerk who had an amazing haircut. She had long, thick hair and it just looked gorgeous. Her cut was modern and her hair still moved. It turns out she goes to Envy, as does her mom (they're both Filipina). When I heard how happy she'd been despite her pickiness, I was sold. So I went in to the unassuming little salon in a mini business complex, had my hair cut and went home to a handful of compliments of this being my best haircut yet. (This should mean something: My mother is a stylist, too.)
Although I've had some pretty nice haircuts, I haven't met anyone who's expressed the same sort of confidence and intelligence about my hair (it's both fine and thick at the same time), as well as the ability to style it so that I don't want to go home and wash the salon style out of it. She did quite a lot for someone who is almost never happy with her hair and who came in with the ambiguous request of "something nice that I don't have to style". I am more than pleased with the results.
Oh, she gets bonus points for sending a Christmas card with coupons. Gotta love that.
