Cute cottage style inn. Historic Carmel ranch overlooking Point Lobos. World class dining, tennis courts. Ocean sunsets and sheep filled pastures on rolling hills await your stay on these award winning grounds. Piles of pillows and a cozy fire offer serenity and relaxation. 31 unique and charming rooms are available. (I'm a Carmel native and this is my favorite to recommend to those visiting Carmel....although it isn't in downtown, it is a short 5 minute drive to downtown shops). One of the most common subjects of art in most of the carmel galleries is landscape. I do appreciate some of the fine work but no matter how interesting the composition can be I prefer to see some variety in a gallery. Gallerie Amsterdam definitely had the variety that made my eye wander with interest from artist to artist. At the time I visited they had a wide variety of mediums from oils to photography to watercolors to metalworking to stone sculptures. I'm not sure whether or not the prices truly reflected the quality in each of the crafts but at least this was an exhibit to appreciate all works of art.

More
Lately I had been getting tired of going to my regular hair salon, and wanted to get a change. So, I asked my friend who just got this amazing new haircut, where she went. I made an appointment for the following day at the O Salon. When I arrived there, I had to wait an hour longer, when I had already made my appointment a day ago. But, I thought it would all be worth it to look like my friend, and maybe even better. When it was finally my turn to get my haircut, the guy decides to take a LUNCH BREAK! I waited thirty minutes extra, and he finally came back, not caring about me what so ever! When he was all done with my haircut I looked like an ape; that haircut was the biggest waist of fifty dollars I ever spent. To put the extra cherry on top I left buying a wig, but they only had ones with real hair, so that was an extra forty dollars gone to waist!

So my fiance and I, on our quest to find the perfect, reasonably priced, venue for our ceremony/reception, went to check out il fornaio in Carmel, CA. The restaurant was very nice, and their event coordinator was extremely accomodating, coming up with suggestions for the reception and taking the time to answer our questions. Since we'd never eaten at the restaurant, however, we thought it would be a good idea to see if we even liked the food... my fiance had the lobster ravioli, which he didnt care for. The texture of the 'lobster' was almost like mush and the ravioli was a little tough. Me, I had the shrimp with lemon. The shrimp was not cooked enough for my taste and the potatoes were soft. It was supposed to come with grilled vegetables... instead it came with spinach salad, which I dont much care for. The dinner bread was hard and there was lint in the wine glass! The dessert tray looked delicious so we decided to order their 'flourless' cake. No, this may be our fault but I think they should have let us know that flourless cake i not really cake. Instead, its a super sweet, super rich chocolate wedge. Now, the only thing I enjoyed was the coffee we had to complement the dessert. However, I would have enjoyed it more if there weren't green stuff floating in the creamer and if the SECOND creamer we asked for didnt have more lint! $70 for this meal? Definitely not worth it... and definitly won't be subjecting our guests to this...

This is a very cozy pizzeria located in the Barnyar shopping area in Carmel. There is a huge selection of gourmet pizza and beers to suit pretty much any craving. It can get pretty busy at lunch, so try to stop by before noon. They have excellent lunch specials/pizza by the slice.
